Formally educated in acoustic and electrical engineering at Strathclyde university, Derek Wilson has over 30 years experience in business and grant funded research including granted patents in two sectors. In 1999 he formed "EarthCall Telecoms" and the "Planet Before Profit" concept where 50% of profits were donated to biodiversity and species conservation, EarthCall became the fastest growing telecoms franchise in UK history. Since 2005 he has focused on transitioning from fossil fuels to a green hydrogen based economy which can be integrated into all walks of life without compromising consumers freedom of choice. He has developed a flexible smart city model which can be adapted for use in almost any country. The model is technology agnostic and allows for the rapid pace of R&D in the clean energy sector and proves true sustainable "off grid" living does require reductions in our living standards. His holistic approach has required Derek to research a broad range of sectors, supply chains, waste handling and consumer behavior, this ongoing process has resulted in a unique range of skills and knowledge plus an extensive network of over 12,000 C level connections and a reputation for honesty and straight talking.
